Facilitator
A facilitator helps a person or group complete a process or work through an issue. In California family court, the term often refers to the Family Law Facilitator, a court office that provides information and help with forms.
In California Family Law
Each superior court must maintain a Family Law Facilitator office staffed by an attorney with family law mediation or litigation experience. The office provides information and form assistance on parentage, child support, and spousal support. It can help complete forms, prepare guideline support schedules, and refer people to other services. The facilitator does not represent either side or give legal advice. The services are free, and people do not need to qualify based on income.
Family Code section 10002 establishes the court office. Section 10004 lists its services.
