XSpouse (Software)

XSpouse is a support-calculation tool. Its results depend on current software, accurate inputs, and the applicable legal and tax assumptions.

XSpouse is software used by California family law professionals to calculate guideline child support and temporary spousal support. It applies the statewide child support formula in Family Code section 4055 and generates reports based on the financial information and parenting-time assumptions entered.

In California Family Law

Judicial Council certification is governed by Family Code section 3830 and California Rules of Court, rule 5.275. As checked October 23, 2026, XSpouse appears on the Judicial Council’s current certification list. Certification is time-limited, so current status and software updates matter.

The program allows users to enter income, deductions, parenting time, and other information used in a support calculation. Its reports help attorneys evaluate proposed support, prepare court filings, and compare settlement assumptions. A report depends on its inputs; it does not resolve disputes about income or parenting time by itself.

Temporary and long-term support

XSpouse includes temporary spousal support calculations using local formulas. Temporary support calculations should not be treated as a formula for permanent support. As the California Courts’ long-term support guide explains, long-term support requires consideration of the parties’ circumstances rather than a single mathematical formula.

Choosing the appropriate calculator

DissoMaster was discontinued in March 2025 and should no longer be described as a currently approved alternative. For non-Title IV-D cases, any currently certified calculator may be used. In cases involving the local child support agency, rule 5.275(j) generally requires the DCSS calculator, subject to the exceptions in that rule.
